Designed for use out in the field, Megger's OTS60SX/2 provides the ability to analyse the dielectric strength of oil used in transformers, circuit breakers and other similar equipment types.

Oil's insulative properties can degrade over time due to the effects of various types of contaminants, so regularly testing with the OTS60SX/2 ensures that the oil's integrity is maintained and safe for use. The tester is microprocessor controlled and semi-automatic, requiring the user to insert an oil sample and choose a testing voltage as defined in national standards. The tester will then apply a test voltage to the sample and if oil breakdown occurs, the tester will remove the testing voltage and display the breakdown value detected.

It is also possible to use the OTS60SX/2 to pause test voltage and carry out a withstand test on the oil sample. In this mode, the voltage will remain at a fixed level for an entire minute or until the oil breaks down. If breakdown hasn't occurred the oil tester will gradually increase the voltage level up until the oil breaks down or the maximum output value is achieved (60kV).

The OTS60SX/2 is designed to enhance safety, and is rugged and durable enough for field use. To stop stray voltage from emerging from the instrument the high voltage chamber is encased behind strong polycarbonate and a mesh screen covers the oil chamber to allow the user to view the breakdown taking place/reduce electro-magnetic emissions.
